Stephen Barrett and Abigail (Abby) Miller met briefly in February 2022 at a missions conference he attended. A month later, they met again at a conference in Texas where the Lord began to put an interest for Abby in his heart. After praying about it for 30 days, they started a friendship that eventually led to a courtship that began on November 14, 2022. While Abigail was meeting Stephen’s family from Brazil in Kentucky, he proposed. They were officially engaged on March 1, 2023. They are getting married on the 30th of November and then finishing deputation together. Stephen and Abigail plan to be in Brazil by mid-2024. Between both of their families, they have seven generations of missionary service and realize what a great heritage God has given them. Both love music, ministry, people, literature, and the mission field. Their purpose is to serve the Lord together in Brazil to the best of their abilities for as long as the Lord allows. Stephen feels a particular burden for the deaf in Brazil and they are praying that God will open specific doors in that area. They cannot wait to see how God guides and directs in their lives."
