Sarah Shadrick grew up in a Christian family in northern Minnesota during which time she was involved in her church’s services and ministries. On November 19, 2005, when Sarah was seven years old, her parents explained salvation to her and she trusted the Lord as her Savior.

For as long as she can remember, Sarah has wanted to be a missionary. Maybe this desire came from the mission trips she, her family, and their church took or from the many missionaries who visited her home. Sarah chose Elementary Education with a Music Ministries minor as practical training for mission work. After graduation, she was given the opportunity to assist a BIMI missionary family in Uganda with homeschooling and church ministries.

When the family left for furlough, the Lord directed her to work at an orphanage until her work permit expired at the end of that year. Her work at the orphanage ministry involved teaching English at the school, music ministries, and tutoring. The Lord used those six months at the orphanage and Psalm 37 to give Sarah peace about returning to Soroti Orphan Assistance Project (SOAP) as a missionary.
