International Representative

E-Mail Ed Gibson

Missionaries Ed & Bonnie Gibson were raised in the western part of the state of Kentucky. This is where they were saved, baptized and married. It is also where they began serving the Lord. While pastoring, Bro. Gibson graduated from the MId-Continent Baptist Bible College and later attended Tennessee Temple University. Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida honored Brother Gibson with an honorary doctorate in May 1989.

The Gibson have served with BIMI since February of 1972 when they were first approved as missionaries to the country of Japan. They arrived in Japan, April 4,1973. The first three years in Japan were spent in Kobe working with the Japanese in the Akashi Grace Baptist Church. In February 1977, the Gibsons moved to the island of Okinawa. In the summer of 1978, they assumed the leadership of the Maranatha Baptist Church, a military ministry in Okinawa. These years were very productive for the Gibsons. Several came to know Christ as their Saviour. Many of those people were called into full time Christian service from this ministry, and are now serving the Lord around the world.

January 1990. was the date of return for the Gibsons. Upon return, Brother Gibson was appointed by the Executive Board of BIMI as an International Representative. Brother Gibson's responsibilities entail sharing the work of missions through Mission Conferences in local churches and Baptist colleges. helping missionaries raise support, and providing public relations for BIMI and their missionary families.

Bro. Gibson now speaks in conferences across the country, and as often as possible, attends the Field Conferences of BIMI missionaries around the world. Brother Gibson is thankful for God's faithfulness to him as has traveled throughout our country sharing his burden for the work of missions. His heart's desire is to encourage each ministry he visits to take an active role in the support and work of God's outreach to the world.
