EUROPE, SPAIN, Feungirola. Clayton and Cheri Livengood. They give the following report, “The missions conference was a tremendous blessing. Brother Roy Lowe preached four challenging messages around the theme ‘Fishers of Men,’ based on the text in Matthew 4:19. We discovered that P. is an artist, and she prepared a special banner for the conference. In spite of a tremendous decrease in membership from last year, we have been able to maintain all our mission projects without having to decrease anyone’s support level, yet, praise God.”
We want to send an extra “Thank You” to each one who has sent special offerings these past few months. With the euro reaching $1.60, your extra help has been a tremendous blessing. Thank you for continuing to pray and give, making our ministry here in Fuengirola possible.”

WEST AFRICA, KENYA, Nvahururu. The Eric Bohman Family. They give the following report: “What event would draw a crowd of over 650 people to a building that would only seat a couple hundred? What would motivate people to walk several kilometers and stand for hours in the hot sun? The answer? The preaching of the Word of God! As the preaching began as the church dedication service in the village of Rumuruti, there was standing room only and windows filled with faces as there were more people on the outside of the building than on the inside. Dr. Rodney Kelley, a supporting pastor from Jacksonville, Florida, (together with a new missionary couple) gave a stirring sermon, and the Lord blessed us with seven salvation decisions and nearly thirty members dedicating their lives to fulfill the mission of the church: to evangelize their community with the Gospel of Christ.” Brother Bohman traveled with Dr. Kelley and a young couple to the countries of Rwanda, Namibia, and Kenya.
EASTERN EUROPE, UKRAINE, The Matthew Hudson family. They are taking a seven month furlough, however they give the following report, “On September 7, the Liberty Baptist Church of Novy Petrovtsi, Ukraine, celebrated its fourth anniversary. We had a great service with many testimonies from people in the church. It was great to hear them recount the many miraculous blessings, which we have seen during the last four years. The Lord has blessed this local church in many ways during that time. Our church is presently active in both local and distant missions, as they are not by faith supporting three Ukrainian missionary families at $35 per month. It is great to see our folks burdened for the lost at hone and abroad. The liberating message of the Gospel continues to bring freedom and deliverance to those held captive by sin.” DO PRAY FOR THE HUDSONS AS THEY REPORT TO THEIR SUPPORTING CHRUCHES AS WELL AS PRESENT THEIR WORK IN NEW CHURCHES FOR POSSIBLE PRAYER AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT!
SOUTHEAST ASIA, AUSTRALIA, REDLYNCH. Dan and Sandy DeLong. The Delongs give the following report and prayer needs, “Letter-boxing has been an effective way for us to reach our surrounding community. By law, we are not permitted to go door-to-door soul winning, but we are within our legal rights to distribute tracts and church literature in peoples’ letterboxes (mailboxes). We are also permitted to talk with individuals with whom we meet on the street.
We have been blessed with good results from our letter-boxing efforts. Just in the past two Sundays, we had had two families visit our church as a direct result of letter-boxing.”
They ask that you pray for J, who they met on the street will letter-boxing. She recently lost her husband to cancer. Also they asked that you pray for B, F and their two small children who came as a result of the literature receive in their mail box. We have been having problems with the internet. For two months now it comes on and off. We never know when we can use it. We have Vonage phone from the U.S. that we have used for awhile but have not been able to use for these past two months. We received our Christmas cards in May. The situation is not easy but His blessings to us personally have been great and also wonderful as far as the work is concerned. This past Sunday we baptized 36 new Christians.” PRAY FOR THE ARCES!
CENTRAL AMERICA, MEXICO, Raymond and Laurie Jones, Elaine Jones. They send the following report, “Our VBS went well. This year we had it for two weeks. The first week was in Miravalle. Our highest attendance was 87. Twenty-eight were saved. This year we had two teams called ‘Watermelon’ and ‘Cantaloupe.’
This was the first time to have VBS in El Molino. The teenagers went out to visit and bring the kids in. They ended the week with a high of 70. There were 45 saved. Praise God for these decisions. PRAY FOR SEVERAL ACTIVITIES COMING UP IN THE OCTOBER, NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER!
BRAZIL, SAN PAULO. Bryan and Rebecca Johnson. They just celebrated their 1st anniversary of the church they are planting. On September 7, they enjoyed an attendance of 70, with 20 first time visitors. Then let them tell what happened, “The fantastic finish to our program came with much trial by Satan. Right as we began our push we received notice that a new law had been passed and as a result the rent at church was raised drastically. We were left with no choice but to move to the church and give up our personal home.” At their new place one of the new kids went upstairs and robbed their house. Several personal things were taken including the boys’ DVD player for school. PRAY FOR THE JOHNSONS!
FAR EAST, TAIWAN. John and April Flowers. The Flowers are new missionaries to Taiwan and at the present have 91% of their needed support. They had asked for prayer for an apartment when they arrive on the field. The Lord answered through a missionary friend and they found an apartment with less rent than they expected. They will be leaving for the field by the first of 2009. Their shipping cost will be approximately $2,000 plus approximately $1500 airfare for both of them. Pray with them about this need and if you can help, please forward the offering to the BIMI office earmarked for the Flowers passage.
FAR NORTH, CANADA, NOVA SOCTIA, ARCADIA. Greg and Tina Chapman. They are new to the field, yet already the Lord has used them to be a blessing. Let them share with you those blessings, “We had a real treat in July, as we were blessed to see the youth group from our home church, Mile Creek Baptist, come for a visit to the area…. We invited them to come down to Yarmouth to help us hold a one-day VBS, and it was well worth the effort. We held out one-day event on Wednesday from 10 am–2 pm and were able to have 70 children in attendance. What a blessing that was to see. We had games and lunch along with a Bible lesson time. At the end of the day, I gave an invitation for any to come forward who desired to ask Jesus Christ to be their Savior. We had at least 17 young people come forward. The youth group from Mill Creek was able to deal with those one on one and lead them to the Lord. We thank God for the group who came and for the tremendous result that He provided…Please continue to pray for us. Being away from him is still quite hard for the family, especially with the holidays just around the corner.” PRAY FOR THE CHAPMANS

We have lost some good families and several new ones have arrived. God continues to bless Yokota Baptist Church. God has given us new leaders for the Awanas, Patch the Pirate and Pee Wee Clubs. Our Internet Radio Station is still streaming. We have received e-mails from England, Germany, Africa, Russia and the U.S. thanking us for the station. We are still getting calls every Sunday to come to the train station to pick up Japanese people who listed to our Internet Radio Station. You can tune it and listen and watch our services at yokotabaptistchurch.org. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS VERY EFFECTIVE MINISTRY.
CARIBBEAN ISLANDS, BARBADOS, ST. PHILLIPS. Robert and Rhoda Smith. They give the following report, “Recently one of our young married ladies, Michelle Sargeant, remarked to my wife, ‘Nearly everyone here in this church has a past, and now we all have a future, too!’ One of the unique things about ministering here in Barnados is that nearly everyone comes to Christ with a past that is filled with sin, sorrow and regret. From childhood to adulthood, they come soiled, beaten and battered by Satan to find cleansing and freedom in Christ. Our church is filled with former adulterers, fornicators, thieves, drunkards, abusers, and abused who were nothing but broken fragments of lives by the world’s standards. Christ has stepped into their lives and gathered up the fragments of their lives, and has built them into confident and bold Sunday school teachers, junior church workers, soul winners, lay preachers, spouses determined on building there home on Christ, and single mothers teaching their children on righteousness. On more than one occasion someone has said to me, ‘I thank God He sent you and your family here–not just to Barbados–but to me and my home.’ And I thank God that He has been so gracious as to use sinners to reach sinners with His wonderful news of salvation. His grace is amazing and His mercy so abundant.” PRAY FOR THE SMITHS AS SHE HAS HAD TO RETURN TO THE STATES FOR SURGERY.

WEST AFRICA, Togo. Jon and Heidi Huff. The Huffs are in language school studying the French language. They give the following report and prayer requests: “We have started a new habit of praying in French before each meal. This is a little different than it sounds because we use different terms in prayer than in normal conversation. Our attempts at praying were more than Abby [their daughter] could handle, and as I was struggling to find the right words, I heard a little laugh from the other end of the table. Oh, well, it is not the first time somebody has laughed at our French and we are assured it will not be the last.” PRAY FOR THE HUFFS AS THEY COMPLETE LANGUAGE TRAINING!!

He also plays classical guitar and piano and used to play in an orchestra. He is married with a young boy and seems to be a faithful husband and father. Recently I moved our conversation to spiritual matters and he listened. He had to leave to get home but said he wanted to continue our conversation and meet me at the same cafeteria where Rafa and the others work. I was there at our agreed time, but he did not show up.” Pray for V.’s salvation as well as Terry Sharp!
USA MILITARY, Germany, Ketsch. The Pilalas Family. They write, “God is Good! We walked into our apartment and within five minutes of opening the door the phone rang. It was a family who had just arrived a few weeks earlier, who wanted to know if they could get a ride to church in the morning. I told them we just got in and would be delighted to pick them up. God was just saying to us “Welcome home, now get to work!” Over the last few weeks we have see three saved and are preparing to have another Baptismal service for several. He has also shared with me a burden to launch out into a new village to begin a new church. We are encouraged to see how he is demonstrating great leadership qualities in his life.” PRAY FOR THE O’BRIENS!!
AFRICA, SAHARA DESERT. David and Donna Edens. They give the following testimony with prayer requests: “Another who has made a profession of faith in the last couple of years is ‘C.’ We have referred to him several times in letters. Muslim neighbors have ostracized him and his family because they often come to town to attend our meetings. A priest has been particularly hostile. Several weeks ago the camel [dromedary] of C’s son became severely ill. Since there seemed to be no hope for the animal, the family was gathered around with knives in preparation for slaughtering it. (This is the normal procedure in the desert for terminally ill animals. The meat is then eaten so that the animal will not be a complete loss). Meanwhile, C’s son went to the muslim priest to ask him to come and perform the hocus-pocus magic which these priests engage in (for a price) in emergencies like this. They claim to have powers of all kinds, but they rarely have results. When the priest arrived, he began to poke fun at C. ‘Why don’t you run to your church people where you attend services and enlist their help?’ he chided. C. answered him saying, ‘We did not ask for your help anyway. Yes, I will enlist the help of the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is well able to answer out prayers.” C. then went over and stood next to the prostrate camel and prayed in Jesus’ name for the healing of the animal. The camel then sat up. A minute or two later the animal stood, and then went over to fresh pasture [which has just sprouted from the recent rains) and began to eat from the new grass. Then C. invited the priest to leave, since he had not invited him to begin with. There were quite a number of witnesses to this incident. Whenever a large animal has to be slaughtered, the meat is distributed to all of the neighbors. So, many had gathered anticipating receiving some of the fresh meat. We praise God for this testimony to answered prayer in Jesus’ name, the Name above every name. Pray for the spiritual growth of this Christian family, and for the salvation of this priest and our neighbors.
WEST AFRICA, SENEGAL, St. Louis. Pat and Jody Russell. They give the following report and prayer requests: “This past month I was able to go to the Ivory Coast for a 10-day visit. The church is doing fine there; however, Sylvester is very sick. . . Normally when I go to the Ivory Coast, I usually teach and train Sylvester; however, this time I need to spend time seeking proper medical attention for him.
The work here in Senegal continues to progress. We are continuing to be faithful to work with the contacts we have made with the folks here. It is going to take time for us to find the ones whose hearts God is opening. . . Pray with us that we find people who want to know God. Also, pray that God would raise up someone out of the church to ‘teach others also.’ This last prayer cannot be overstressed. It is our prayer that God would place His hand on a Senegalese national who will one day be able to replace us.”
They list the following prayer needs:
• Sylvester’s health
”
• Land for the church in Abidjan
• For Arthur, Serge, John and Yves as they teach.
• Pray for our support level to increase.

We are always glad to see our staff involved in ministries other than their job here ad we thank the Lord for the opportunity to serve wherever we are.”

THE HUNDRED NATIONS PROJECT—In 2005, BIMI launched this project to expand the ministry from 80+ nations to 100 by the year 2010. Please pray for David Carney who is heading up this ministry. Pray for this project.
USA MINISTIES, WASHINGTON, Seattle. Perry and Barb Gibson. The Gibsons work with Japanese students who come to study in the States. They write, “We are having another exciting school year of witnessing to Japanese students! In Japan, the school year runs from April until March. Many of the Japanese exchange students at Edmonds Community College are here for the second year of a three year program. So, the program here is set up to coordinate with the overall schedule. Once again, we are able to go on camps to the official orientation program for this group of students and invite them, with their teacher’s blessing, to our English and Bible program. We have a whole new group of over thirty students who have attended our program, with over twenty regular attendees and about ten who also attended Japanese church services. All of them are hearing the Gospel. We asked you to pray for good connections with the new students, and God is answering. Thank you!
FAR EAST, JAPAN. Rick and Beth Conrad. The Conrads give the following report and prayer needs: “Pray for our friend Mr. I. We have had a weekly Bible study with him for several years. He is recently retired from his company and is spending three months in San Diego attending Bible classes. He has strong Buddhist ideas but he says he wants to understand the truth of God’s Word. He has been wrestling with many contradictions in his own faith. Please pray that he will come to rest in the truth of Christ. This past week Ms. H. came by the church with her Bible. She has recently been influenced by the Gospel music boom in Japan. She wanted to know what the words to a song meant. I was happy to help her understand the Gospel of God’s amazing grace. She seems very open to the Lord. Please pray for her to truly believe the gospel and be saved.”
CENTRAL AMERICA, MEXICO, Chiapas, Tuxtla Gutierrez. Armando and Deborah Guzman. They give the following report, “The camp was a real blessing this year! We had Mexican missionary Hector Sanchez, to El Salvador, as our main speaker each evening. He preached the Word of God straight to the hearts of the young people, speaking the truth plainly. Many decisions were made every night, the people in the camp meetings were under conviction. Nine young people gave their hearts to Jesus during the week of camp! There were 53 others who made rededications decisions since they realized that their lives had unconfessed sins and they need to be dealt with! Nineteen young people came forward the last night of camp to dedicate their lives to full-time Christian service.
One a more somber note, Armando went to see a cardiologist and was put on some strong medicine for his heart. The doctor wants him to go to Mexico City soon to have a catheterization surgery done. He will going around the beginning of September. Please keep him in your prayers. The doctors there will also be running tests and may have to do a by-pass surgery if necessary.
SOUTHEAST ASIA, NEW ZEALAND, Asburton. Jerry and Dawn Judd. They write, “We have been in our new meeting place now for nearly four months, and it’s been a tremendous blessing. We are able to use another classroom in the building for our young people; in our other meeting place we had to take the kids to another building, but it has worked out better having them in the same building. Please pray for the young people that attend the Kids Club and Sunday morning service as we try to reach these young people with the Gospel. Pray for those who have accepted Christ to grow in their spiritual lives.” PRAY FOR THE JUDDS!

WEST AFRICA, TOGO, KARA. Randy and Jeanette Alderman. The Aldermans have just returned to Togo following a six month furlough. They write the following report: “Reunions with our Togolese believers have been so precious, but we also find that some are no longer faithful to the Lord. As much as this saddens us, we are also encouraged by the spiritual growth that we see among other believers.
About four years ago, the Tomde Church, pastored by Moussa, felt led of the Lord to start a Bible study in the village of Soumdina-Haut. After the first baptism, one of the young men was called of God to start Bible Institute and is not receiving training to take the leadership of that church. Several days ago, Pastor Maussa excitedly brought photos for us to see. We were able to view the new mud brick building that the Tomde Church, located in the town of Kara, has constructed totally on their own for this village church! Members of the congregation in Kara volunteered their time and effort to construct the building, and the Tomde church also paid several men to finish those jobs that required a trained person. . . We are so proud of them and excited to see the manner in which they are living out the Book of Acts in their church.” PRAY FOR THE ALDERMANS!!
BRAZIL, SAO PAULO. Sean and Stephanie Lunday. The Lundays used the “Go for the Gold” theme for a recent VBS and had 188 children attending with 42 accepting Christ as Saviour. The write the following prayer request: “God has provided a large piece of property, and God has raised up a team equipped to establish another church in a much needy area. We believe that God has placed us in the heart of South America’s largest city with a purpose to establish churches and reach as many people as possible with the gospel before the coming of Christ. A large lot was given to our church for the purpose of establishing another Bible believing Baptist church. Will you pray for this project? Perhaps God would have you be a part in laying the foundation for this new work. We are making plans to soon build a temporary meeting place on the property as we saturate the area with gospel literature.” Pray for this effort as well as a fellow missionary whose child was burned to death.

EAST AFRICA, Eric Bohman, Assistant African Director. Eric recently visited Rwanda with some prospective missionaries. He gives the following report and prayer requests: “I was able to travel to some countries here in Africa and survey them for future missionary work. I then led a small team of future missionaries into the country of Rwanda and over the border into the Democratic Republic of Congo. Please be in prayer for this region. Rwanda is one of the most densely populated countries in all of Africa, and I know of one Baptist church-planting missionary in the entire country! It is such a needy area, but truly the laborers are few. Even though Rwanda experienced a horrific genocide several years ago, the country is now stable and very open to the Gospel. Please be in prayer for me and I go on another trip to Namibia within the next few weeks with two other prospective missionaries.” PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE COUNTRIES!

They have been working with a group of people for several months to establish a church in the community of Maipu. This area is the fastest growing section of Santiago with over half million people. Nearly 1,000 new homes are being built and this gives a tremendous open door for them. PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS NEW CHURCH SITUATION!!
FAR NORTH, CANADA, NOVA SOTIA, Arcadia. Greg and Tina Chapman. They give the following report, “In June, we had a small cookout for Father’s Day. There were nine men in attendance for this event. We enjoyed our time together and especially the food. I was able to take two men from the church to a Men’s Retreat at Forest Glen Camp outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, the weekend following Father’s Day. We had a terrific time in the Lord talking with other Christian men, playing games, and having our hearts stirred by the preaching of the Word.
Please pray for us as we continue to make new contacts in the area and minister to those already a part of our church. There are a lot of work to be done here and only the Lord can accomplish those things necessary in this ministry.” PRAY FOR THE CHAPMANS!
