Guyana
Although a small country compared to other South American nations, Guyana is spiritually very needy. Up to this point the evangelistic outreach of the missionaries has proven to be fruitful. This is one of the countries where a missionary can minister in English. Our missionaries are experiencing great blessing from the Lord in village ministry along the many rivers of this beautiful sub-tropic country. Most areas of Guyana requires missionary candidates who are eager to be involved in pioneer church planting ministries, however tremendous opportunities for evangelism exist in Georgetown, the capital city, and its surrounding area. The Guyanese people are open to the Gospel. Our desire is to expand our evangelistic and church planting emphasis in Guyana as well as programs for educating nationals who are called to the ministry.
Suriname (also English speaking) and the territory of French Guiana, located adjacent to Guyana, are two areas where BIMI does not have resident missionaries. Our prayer is that God will lead more missionary personnel to us who will be eager to work in these countries. We would like to have more missionaries in Guyana and new missionaries in these other countries within the next ten years.
