Hello! We are Matt and Sheri Winkler, missionaries to Uganda, East Africa. We have six children, Andrew, Timothy, Nathan, Noah (twins), Christianna and Ethan. As a teenager, Matt felt the Lord calling him into full-time service and later missions. So he went to Pensacola Christian College where he got a degree in missions and met his wife, Sheri. We got married December 23, 1999. From there we both took teaching positions in the Christian school out of Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach, FL. While at Calvary God called us to Uganda during our 2001 missions conference. We joined BIMI in 2002 and arrived in Uganda in September, 2004. We first worked with missionaries Andrew and Jacky Stensaas in Mbale in the eastern side of the country primarily learning the language and culture until 2009. Then in October, 2009, we moved to our current location, a town called Iganga. At that time we began Lighthouse Baptist Church in our living room. We eventually had a children's Sunday school in the living room while the adults met on the porch. Then in April, 2010 we started renting a building from a nearby school. God has also expanded our ministry to training some local pastors who have never had proper training. One even officially changed his church to an independent Baptist church! Our most recent venture has been to start a lunch hour Bible study in a hall at a local hotel. We hope to use this as a tool to reach a lot of the business community here. Please pray for our family as we strive to serve the Lord together in Uganda!
