From the Desk of:
Dr. Pat Creed
Caribbean Director:
June and I would like to wish you a very wonderful holiday season. May God bless you in a wonderful way as you celebrate Christmas and the beginning of a new year.
As I write this article, my mind goes to the fact that many of you mission aries will not celebrate this Christmas with family and loved ones as you have done in the past. May God reward you richly for the decisions that you have made in your lives to serve God in the place that He has called you, and may He fill you with His wonderful presence giving you a peace and joy beyond human understanding as you permit Him to use you as an influence in the lives of those you strive to reach for eternity’s sake.
We just finished our mid-year meeting at BIMI with the approval of new missionary candidates. There was a wonderful group of twenty-one new missionaries approved to begin deputation heading to the people to whom God has called them.
It is exciting to have Brother Gary Sprunger working with me now as Assistant Caribbean Director I know he will be a tremendous help to our missionaries throughout the islands in a personal way. Please feel free to call on him as it is convenient to do in a time of question and need. Gary and Joy desire to serve you and will be a tremendous blessing and help.
Please make a note of the field conference that is scheduled in Puerto Rico on January 5-9, 2005. Place these dates on your calendar and plan to be a part of this special occasion.

Early Monday morning, October 16th, Billy Aulds was walking to church. Linda, his wife needed the car to run errands that morning. Unbeknown to Billy, a tire fell from the platform of a 60 ton crane that was being moved to a new location down the road. The tire struck Billy and injured him severely. Immediately an ambulance was summoned. Initial evaluations by the local medical team did not give much hope for survival. Billy was rushed to Central Medico in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico where a highly proficient Emergency Trauma team continued to care for him. Many of the members of Maranatha Baptist Church meet Linda outside the Trauma Center and had prayer for Billy. Their presence impacted many of the laborers at the Trauma Center. Although the Trauma team shared dismal reports, the church and Linda continued to have high expectations that God would intervene. Day after day, crisis after crisis, Linda, the family, and the folks of Maranatha continued to visit the Trauma Center. After several weeks, Billy was deemed strong enough to be moved to the Tauma ICU ward. Under careful supervision, Billy went through a number of major battles, but God was in control. From the first day that we stayed with Linda, she would always say, "Brother Sprunger, I know God is going to do something good out of this. He is in control. No mater what happens, God has a purpose in this.". The first month passed, and Billy continued to lay on the bed almost lifeless. Little signs of improvement were seen. When week number seven arrived, Billy started to show daily improvements. Week eight terminated and Billy was talking, eating, moving, and being prepared to go into therapy. Presently, Billy is in a Healthsouth Rehab center close to Central Medico in Rio Piedras. As I have been evaluating all that has happened during the past ten weeks, I can’t help but be overwhelmed by the Grace of God and His miracle working power. Throughout our lives God cares for us in a multitude of ways. He desires to demonstrate His ability to do the unbelievable. Through this traumatic event, doctors, nurses, healthcare individuals and others have seen the power of God to restore. We serve a wonderful God. No doubt, God has used the events of the past ten weeks to touch the heart and lives of many people. During the first four weeks, over 14 students and parents made decisions for Christ at Maranatha Baptist Church and Academy. Only eternity will reveal the full extent of God’s work associated with this traumatic event. Please continue to pray for the Aulds family. This has been a very difficult time for them, but the Lord has been faithful.

Dear Noteworthy Friends,
The Lord’s birthday will soon be here and we will celebrate His birth. ("Unto you is born in the city of David a Savior.) This Christmas will be different for many Americans who have lost their sons and daughters in the war. Many have laid their lives down for our freedom, and we need to pray for our soldiers and for those who have lost loved ones.
Recently, I heard a message and the preacher said, "What if Mary, the mother of Jesus, had not fulfilled the plan of God?" Mary was human just like we are - she loved her Son, she knew He was different (He was the Son of God),, and she wanted to do what God wanted her to do. Giving birth is painful, but nothing compares to seeing your son being crucified. Mary was willing to do God’s plan, and we have the wonderful gift of eternal life through Jesus! As women, we can be used to see people saved and living lives that will glorify the Lord. What a wonderful plan!
Love and Prayers,
June

Benji and Kerri Dryden and their three children have arrived on the field of Haiti. They are assisting Don and Bridgett Dryden in Port-au-Pax. Pray for them as they adapt and learn Creole.
Don Dryden reports that 56 national students are enrolled in the last established extended Bible Institute. They are praying for a building that would house the Bible Institute.
Joan Whiteheart in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico reports that she has 23 adults and 7 children studying the "Source of Light" Bible correspondence courses. She also shares that nine were recently baptized.
Curt Waite at Radio Caribbean Lighthouse in Antigua reports that progress is being made in preparing English and Spanish broadcasts. There is a need for a Spanish speaking missionary to assist at the station in reaching the Hispanic community in the islands. They are planning to soon split the AM and the FM signals for broadcasting English and Spanish simultaneously.
John and Kelly Webb in Santiago, Dominican Republic praise the Lord for the results of the " Fill Your Church" campaign. The membership was encouraged to invite their own neighbors, friends, and family members. On the final Sunday, they had a record breaking attendance, and seven adults and teens indicated their need to be saved. Pray for them as they follow up on each of these. John also shares that a couple weeks later, four teenagers responded to the invitation and accepted Christ as Savior. John is presently personally training 5 young people to be soul-winners.
John and Laura Nemo have arrived in Trinidad. Pray for them as they seek to find housing and as they begin their ministry.
Mike and Phylis Hader arrived back in Trinidad in October. Pray for them as they seek to begin a new work in the area of Point Fortin, Trinidad.
Jerry Reece recently finished a number of special campaigns in Puerto Rico. Many decisions for Christ were recorded. We praise the Lord for Brother Reece’s ministry. He is a great preacher and soul-winner. If you need someone who understands missions and the need of the field, call Bro. Reece and schedule him. He would be a blessing to you and your ministry.
Joshua Wesson reports from Santo Domingo that they had 150 in attendance with two coming to know the Lord as Savior. They also had 11 to follow the Lord in baptism in November. Six of those baptized came from one family (father, mother and four children).
Howard Chappell in St. Kitts recently had Evangelist Mike Peletier and team for an island-wide evangelistic campaign. The campaign was held in the new building that Good News Baptist built . Over 30 decisions for Christ were reported during that special week.
Ken and Nancy Guth share that God has been protecting members of their congregation. Ken and Nancy were counseling a mother of three children. They had been giving this mother Biblical counsel concerning marriage. A man that was trying to establish an unbiblical relationship with her began to threaten her. He even tried to poison the family, but God gave spiritual insight and direction. Food that had been prepared for a dinner was tainted by this fellow. Unknowingly the food was given to the animals, of which seven dogs, a cat and a bird all died from the poisoning. Praise the Lord for His protecting hand.

It is hard to believe that another year is about to close its page in history. We have witnessed much in 2003. Daily the media has emphasized the events in Iraq, and we have been overwhelmed with political and secular events. How wonderful it is to come to the end another year and to look back and review the spiritual journal of events for 2003. Joy and I were privileged this year to experience a number of wonderful events. There is not enough space to share all.
During the later part of the year, I went to Haiti to be with Don Dryden. In route, I was able to be in the Dominican Republic for a little lay-over. It was a blessing to talk to a number of our missionaries in the area of Santo Domingo. God is blessing, and a number of new works have been established this year. In Haiti, Brother Dryden has been blessed with a great ministry of training national men. My heart is moved everytime I see these men graduate from an organized training program that helps prepare them to pastor their churches. Immediately after I left Haiti, Benji and his wife arrived to assist Don and Bridgett in the ministry at Port-au-Pax. Pray much for the Dryden families as they serve the Lord in Haiti. They would appreciate special prayer for Haiti during their 2004 celebration of Independence from France. President Aristole has invited several hundred spiritist leaders from around the world to lead Haiti in this celebration. A distinct spiritual battle is ongoing in Haiti. Pray much for the safety of our missionaries and their national brethren. Joy and I are praying for each of you and your families. May the Lord richly bless each of you as we embark upon a new year together serving the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Every family has their own special way
To celebrate events surrounding Christmas day
A family TRADITION passed down through the years
Or a new TRADITION started for their own family dear
A TRADITION could be one or a number of things
Perhaps an advent calendar or annual Christmas carol sing
Maybe visiting a farm and cutting down your own tree
Attending a church candlelight service on Christmas Eve
Hanging stockings on the mantle for each family member
Decorating the house and yard in Christmas splendor
Sending Christmas Cards and letter to keep in touch
TRADITIONAL last minute shopping and Christmas rush
Some must hang a wreath on their door
Others take gifts and food to the needy and poor
A TRADITION to bake a cake for Jesus’ birthday
Sing "Happy Birthday Jesus" and celebrate that way
Your Christmas TRADITIONS may be subject to change
But the truth of the Christmas story remains ever the same
God sent His Son to earth born on Christmas Day
In Bethlehem He lay in a manger of hay
The angels proclaimed Jesus’ birth
Would bring great joy to all the earth
*From our hearts we wish you holiday cheer*
A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
