On Monday evening, June 6, 2005, a special ceremony at the World Missions Center marked the occasion of the 45th anniversary of BIMI. The Board of Trustees, directors, missionaries and staff thoughtfully reminisced over the manifold blessings received since 1960. Dr. James Ray, General Director of BIMI shared a few words about the history of BIMI and led in a prayer of thanksgiving to God.
During the evening, several missionaries were honored for their contribution to world evangelism. Dr. Roy and Marge Ackerle, Martha Kunberger, Dr. Frank and Dot Rosser, and Dr. Ray and Jean Thompson were honored individually for fifty years of distinguished missionary service. Dr. John and Dot Halsey were also recognized for 15 years of service as the Far North Director.
Dr. Ray also cast the vision concerning the immediate future of BIMI. The 100 Nations Project was announced, with goals of enlarging both the number of mission fields and missionaries by the 50th anniversary in 2010.
