End of the World Bible Project

Jesus said, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Ushuaia, Argentina, is universally known as the southernmost city of the world. Ushuaia is located just 600 miles from Antarctica on the main island of the archipelago that forms the southern tip of the South American continent. The island is called the TIERRA del FUEGO or LAND OF THE FIRE.

Missionaries, working under the auspices of BAPTIST INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS, INC., are engaged in a project that is going to allow us to take the Gospel to the "uttermost part of the earth"...LITERALLY !

The island was discovered in the year 1520 by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. As Magellan cautiously sailed through the narrow passage, now known as the Strait of Magellan, the explorer was captivated by the numerous fires that he saw burning on the island to the south; so much so that Magellan was compelled to name his discovery Tierra del Fuego or the Land of the Fire. Those flames he saw were the warming fires of the Yámana Indians, the original inhabitants of the island who were widely famed for their unusually high tolerance of the constantly cold climate of these extreme southerly islands. Wearing little or no clothing, the Yámanas would cover their bodies in animal fat and huddle around small fires for warmth.

Ironically, it was the first attempt to "Christianize" the Yámanas that ultimately led to their demise. The arrival in Ushuaia of the island's first Christian missionary began an influx of a substantial number of Europeans who came to colonize the island and search for gold. Unfortunately for the indigenous population, these early settlers brought with them such diseases as smallpox and cholera, for which the Indian's immune systems offered no resistance.

But moving forward one hundred forty plus years to modern day Ushuaia, renowned as the "southernmost city in the world" and the primary "gateway to Antarctica," we find a city of some 65,000 inhabitants, mostly of European descent who live a modern life style with little thought for the long past occupants of their island. Sadly, the majority of the modern day residents of the island known as the Tierra del Fuego have little or no knowledge of the Word of God. Moving about the island one can find evidence of the presence of Catholicism, Jehovah Witnesses, of Mormons, and of liberal evangelicals. And while there are a few small groups on the island who are preaching the truth, there is still an enormous need for someone to put the pure, unadulterated Word of God into the hands and the hearts of these people.

With the Lord's guidance and provision, in 2012 we plan to distribute thousands and thousands of copies of the Word of God in the southernmost city of the world, but we CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT THE HELP OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!!!

This Bible distribution project will also target the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the world's 17th largest population center, where we also hope to distribute many thousands of Bibles among the nearly 13 million residents. Our overall goal for both Buenos Aires and Ushuaia is to print and distribute 50,000 copies of the Word of God!

The natural question would be to ask, "What can we do to help?" First and foremost, you can PRAY and secondly – and very importantly – you can GIVE! For just $2.50 per copy, we can put the Bible, the Word of God, into the hands of the inhabitants of the city that – literally – lies in the uttermost part of the earth!

Wouldn't you like to be a partner in this effort to take the Gospel to Ushuaia and to Buenos Aires, Argentina? Please join us in praying for this vision to become a reality. And please help us raise this considerable amount of money. Do you realize that if just a fraction of the thousands of churches in America would commit to give $1,000 each, we could tell the printer to print these Bibles and take them – literally – to the uttermost part of the earth? On the back of this brochure you will see a breakdown of just how easy it would be for you and your church to become a PARTNER in the End of the World Bible Project.

We simply cannot ignore the command:
…and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

BECOME A PARTNER

If just 20 people in 125 churches would give $50.00 each, those churches could give $1000.00 to take the Gospel to the end of the world and we could completely fund this project!

But you say, "Sorry, but we don't have $1000."

Look at this!
— If 10 people in your church could give just $50.00 each, your church could give $500!
— If 20 people in your church could give just $25.00 each, your church could give $500!
— A Sunday School class or a Christian School Class could become a PARTNER in this project!
— Make the "End of the World Bible Project" a Vacation Bible School missions project!
— Challenge your TEENS to give in order to take God's Word to the uttermost part of the earth!

Please pray for us and with us, and please send your contributions to:
