Mel Brown

Melvyn (Mel) Brown was saved under the revival ministry of Dr. John R. Rice in 1946 in Dayton, Ohio, when he was 11 years old. His wife, Carol, was saved at the age of 12. They were married in 1957, and God gave them four wonderful children. The Browns moved to Alabama in 1963 where they both surrendered their lives for full-time ministry in 1965. Mel and Carol Brown both attended Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the early 70s.

After graduation from Tennessee Temple in 1975, Mel and Carol and their family of six moved to Pensacola, Florida, to pastor the Grace Baptist Church. The church grew from around 50 to over 300 in four years. Every year they conducted a Faith Promise Missions Conference, and their missions’ family grew from 5 to 50 during that time. In 1979 before their 4th missions conference, the church prayed that the Lord would increase their Faith Promise commitments and call one of their "young couples" to the mission field. It was during that week of the conference that the Lord called Mel and Carol Brown to the Philippines to win souls and plant a church. He was 45 years old at the time.

The Lord provided the Browns’ support in the next nine months and they left for the Philippines, arriving on July 1, 1980. Mel and Carol planted their first church on September 27, 1980. Two years later the Bible institute ministry was started. From that small beginning their graduates have planted over 90 churches and over 60 Bible institutes (2 Timothy 2:2). All those churches practice Faith Promise Mission Giving. Some of those churches support over 100 missionaries in the Philippines and abroad. Many of the graduates are now planting churches in countries around the world.

The Browns returned to the States in 1997 because of health issues. Since that time they have done furlough relief work in Canada (three times) and Scotland (three times). They also returned to the Philippines to hold conferences for BIMI missionaries as well as their own national pastors. The most recent trip was September and October 2013.

On October 31, 2017, Carol went Home to be with her Savior. At present while living in the Birmingham, Alabama, area, Brother Brown continues to be very active in ministry. Mel has an open door of ministering to all the employees at a small corporation, ministering weekly at an assisted living home, and teaching the senior Sunday school class in his church.

The Lord has given Brother Brown a ministry where he can work from his home. He produces a DVD with their Bible institute curriculum plus hundreds of sermons and teaching materials for missionaries and national pastors around the world. At present missionaries and national pastors in 63 countries are using this DVD (www.bama4u.org). He also produces and distributes DVDs with soul winning videos in several different languages. In recent years he has produced over 50,000 DVDs to be given out freely. Many people give these out as tracts. Click on http://yourfutureplace.org/usa.htm and it will give you more information on this ministry. Please link on www.yourfutureplace.org and view the videos available in many languages. These can be sent out by e-mail.

Mel Brown states, “I will be happy to assist you in any way I can. My one-day Sunday conference has been used by God and my three-day conference has been very effective also.”

May God continue to bless you.

In His service 'til He comes,

Melvyn Brown
