John & LeeEtta Hornbeck
John Hornbeck was born in St. Louis, Missouri, July 28, 1944, and was born again at Pomerado Road Baptist Church on March 30, 1969. He graduated from Hyles-Anderson College, Crown Point, Indiana, in May 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
LeeEtta was born in San Diego, California. She was 10 years old when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1954 at Linda Vista Baptist Church, Linda Vista, California. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Linda Vista Baptist Bible College and Seminary in June 1966.
From August 1977 to September 1985, John served as the Director of Soul Winning and Follow-up at Independent Baptist Church, Clinton, Maryland, under the leadership of Dr. Pat Creed. LeeEtta taught in Independent Christian Academy.
John was called by God to be a missionary to the United States military in 1984. The following year the Hornbecks joined BIMI and began their preparations for deputation to raise support to go to Aviano, Italy. John and LeeEtta were commissioned as missionaries in March 1989 and left for Italy.
They started their first church, Independent Baptist Church, San Cassiano di Brugnera, Italy, on July 16, 1989, with 15 attending the first service. That evening a teenage boy accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Later, they renamed the church Calvary Baptist Church when the church was moved to Marsure, Italy. John and LeeEtta served in Italy from March 1989 to November 1994. While there they were used by God to help start Vicenza Baptist Church, Vicenza, Italy.
In 1995 God moved the Hornbecks to Panama to work with the military. John and LeeEtta worked with BIMI Missionary Al Sligh until August 1997. Brother Hornbeck served as the Director of Soul Winning and Follow-up (which included discipleship) and Director of Maranatha Baptist Bible College. LeeEtta taught in the 5-year-old nursery and assisted in the ACE school, Maranatha Baptist Christian School. From August 1997 to November 1999, John served as the pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church.
God called the Hornbecks to Germany to work with Dr. Tom Lancaster at Rhein River Baptist Church. Brother Hornbeck became the Director of Soul Winning and Follow-up and also was the Director of Rhein River Baptist Bible College. During the Sunday school hour LeeEtta taught 4 and 5-year-olds. John taught Basic Training, a class for new Christians and new church members. In November 2001, God opened the door to the military's Confinement Center (jail). For 10 1/2 years Brother Hornbeck had the opportunity to oversee the ministry of preaching and teaching new Christians on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many were saved and some called to full-time Christian service. While on staff of Rhein River, he was able to fill in for different pastors in Germany and Belgium as needed. It was his privilege to help as their church started four other military churches: Lighthouse Baptist Church, Heidelberg, Germany; Heritage Baptist Church, Milligian, Germany; Harvest Baptist Church, Bamberg, Germany; and Grace Baptist Church, Wiesbaden, Germany.
As ARM Personnel, John and LeeEtta want to be available to help pastors and churches by assisting them in their ministry needs. They are servants who desire to be used of God wherever He may lead them.
