Don and Helen Hughes have been with BIMI since June of 1971, and they have served the lord in a number of locations. They have served in Saipan and Guam of the Mariana Islands, Korea, Hawaii (working with American military), and England. In those years they have started four churches and helped to build up seven others on the foreign mission field.

The Hughes' are currently serving the Lord in USA missions under the direction of Dr. John Bailes. They are helping to rebuild Lighthouse Baptist Church in Johnson City, New York. When they arrived at the church, only nine people remained in attendance. The church had been devastated by the 2006 floods that swept through much of New York State. They have seen some growth and a good number saved since coming to this field. They have also had some leave due to their fundamental stands, but many continue to grow in the Lord.

A great deal of time has been spent working on the physical plant of the church, but the work has been slow because of a lack of workers and finances. Their in–house ministry of BIMI, Claim, is led by Carl Vonnoh and has helped them get some of the work done. Vonnoh continues to work on getting other teams to come up and help get the needed work done. The Hughes' goal is to bring the U.S. back to Christ.
