Hello! We are Matt and Sheri Winkler, missionaries to Uganda, East Africa. We have four boys, Andrew, Timothy , Nathan and Noah (twins). As a teenager, Matt felt the Lord calling him into full-time service to preach. Not long after that, at a missions' conference at his church, he felt the Lord wanted him to go into mission work. So he went to Pensacola Christian College and majored in missions, desiring to serve the Lord on a foreign mission field. At college, Matt met Sheri Horton, and fell in love with her on their first date their Sophomore year. She, on the other hand, needed much persuasion. After three years of chasing and waiting on Matt's part, the two were finally wed the winter after they graduated, December of 1999. Sheri had taken a teaching job in Fort Walton Beach, FL, at Calvary Christian Academy, and Matt also became a teacher after they were married. Sheri taught Physical Ed., Music, and coached the Volleyball Team, and Matt taught fifth grade. While teaching at Calvary, our first son, Andrew, was born in March of 2001. We were praying about where God wanted us to go as missionaries, and after a missions' conference at Calvary, we felt the Lord directing them to the needy field of Uganda. We joined BIMI (Baptist International Missions, Inc.) and made preparations. Timmy was born in July of 2002 just before we left for deputation. We traveled, and traveled, had Nathan and Noah in Colorado in January of 2004, and then finally after two full years of deputation, we boarded the plane for Africa in September of 2004. We are partners with Andrew and Jacky Stensaas in Mbale, Uganda. Please pray for our family as we strive to serve the Lord together in Uganda!
