Things We Did Not See Coming By Dan DeLong Focusing on Things Not Seen is our yearlong theme at Baptist International Missions, Inc. (BIMI). The Candidate School theme was the same. Many of the 2017 candidates had several obstacles in their lives as Candidate School was approaching. We had missionaries who had passports stolen, a baby came seven weeks early, a transmission was destroyed, a horse ran into a candidate’s car at 4:00 a.m., and a candidate fell through a ceiling at a church work party. All these things happened from the Wednesday before Candidate School through Sunday morning of Candidate School. However, most made it, and we saw God do great things in and through their hearts. These 70 candidates have a goal to reach the world for Christ through BIMI. God has a wonderful plan for each of them. By the end of the week, we focused on things we did not see coming. The passports were returned, the early baby made it safe and sound, the transmission was fixed, the horse’s owner had insurance, and the mission- ary who fell through the ceiling made it to every class. The unseen hand of God was at work. This year’s candidates learned to be faithful servants to the Lord even when they could not see or understand what was going on. They all learned to trust the Lord as He sends them into His harvest field. W Number 2, 2017 BIMI WORLD 9
