W here in the w orld is
WALES? By Leonard James, Pastor of Woodhill Baptist Church,
Colwyn Bay, Wales
THE UNITED
KINGDOM W
ales is a desperately needful land. Signs of 1905 revivals can
be seen in many towns with church buildings everywhere.

However, one church is closing every week in Wales! Many minis-
ters cover between three to five churches. Most no longer preach the
Gospel. Those churches still operating will eventually close as many
of the members are aged. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he will send forth labourers.

Woodhill Baptist Church was on the verge of closing in
1989 when an American pastor came from Kansas and vis-
ited the church. The few believers in the church accepted
him and the work began to grow. In 2002, the church
called a national pastor, Leonard James. I have been pas-
toring at this church for 15 years. At first, the people
needed to be taught how to support their pastor. Today
they pay me a full-time salary and the church is doing
fairly well. We have approximately 46 members, having just invited 12 new members in the
church last month. We have set a goal of 120 members by the year 2020. I have called it “20/20
Vision.” pastor leonard James
We are trusting the Lord to reach out to more people in North Wales. Everywhere is spiritu-

needy. Over the last 20 years there have been independent Baptist churches springing up right along the north coast in towns
such as Prestatyn, Holywell, Wrexham, Llandudno, Llanfairfechan, and Abergele. There are some missionaries and
independent Baptist churches in South Wales, but revival is needed again!
The Sad Passing of Common Sense

T oday we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend—
Common Sense—who has been with us for
many years. No one knows for sure how
old he was since his birth records were long ago
lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remem-
bered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as
knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the
early bird gets the worm, life isn’t always fair, and
maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by
simple sound financial policies (don’t spend more
than you earn). Common Sense lost the will to live
as the Ten Commandments became contraband and criminals
received better treatment than their victims.

It declined even further when schools were required to get
parental consent to administer Tylenol, sun lotion, or Band-Aids
to a pupil, but it could not inform the parents when a pupil be-
came pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense
took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself
from a burglar in your own home, but the burglar
could sue you for assault because you protected
yourself. Common Sense was preceded in death by
his parents Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion;
his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Rea-
son. He is survived by three stepbrothers: I know
My Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I’m a
Victim. Not many attended his funeral because so
few realized that he was gone.
