to false teachers is to be a partaker of his evil deeds. Hospitality is to be used to
further the cause of Christ.

Third, specific needs have indicated that hospitality is one way I should serve
the Lord. Our ministry has sometimes been in small towns where hotel
accommodations were not available. In one place, we kept an elderly couple for
several weeks because their house had burned and they needed to stay in the
area to attend to some chickens. After they found a house, they raised a garden
and rewarded us with garden produce. We kept a young girl for a whole school
year because her parents were divorced and her father with whom she lived was
sexually abusing her. In St. Louis, Missionary Debbie Guimon was my neighbor.

As she was preparing to return to her former ministry in Uganda, she needed to
sell her house, which was across the street from mine. It was convenient for her to
stay with me while she did some work in preparation for the sale.

After the death of my husband, Burton, it was clear that I should
move to St. Louis. I stipulated only one detail to the Lord as
I prayed for leading concerning a house here—I would like it
to be close to my daughter. It is just two doors away from her
house. The house is big and well arranged for my needs, and I love it! My new home
enables me to continue in the ministry of hospitality. It is far more than I need
just for myself. I have dedicated it to the Lord to use for His glory. It has housed
visiting speakers, Gospel team members, people needing temporary housing, and
missionaries passing through St. Louis and needing overnight lodging (even one
family with eight children).

Through hospitality, we have
made lifelong friends, have
experienced an abundance
of wonderful fellowship
with many good Christian
people, have been given
helpful counsel, and have
even received financial help
from some. The Lord never
asks anything of us that does
not bring an abundance of
blessings in return.

When a snow storm struck the
day of our Valentine Banquet I
opened up my house for those
who could get out.
