There
are missionaries
around the world in
their 60s and 70s who
are carrying the
burden of their
churches alone.
They are not as
healthy as they
used to be, and
their strength is
waning. I promise
you that they are
feeling the weight and
bearing the burden, all
the while PRAYING that God
would send SOMEONE to help share
the load.
I know that load bearing is not as enjoyable
as chillaxin in your favorite spot, but we old
timers have very few days of chillaxin. Some
people wonder “When are they going to
retire?” Missionaries love what they do, and
they will retire when they are required to retire
for one reason or another. Others feel like they
cannot retire because there is no one to take
their place. If they put down their precious
cargo, will anyone pick it up or will it lay
untouched? Some give all they have carrying the load until
they take their last breath. Who will come and
fill their shoes and continue forward? Where
are the young people
whom God is calling
to missionary service?
Where are those willing
to help carry the load?
We need replacements
but we also need
reinforcements. The
load is heavy, the road
is rough, and the path
is steep. In this line of
ministry, load bearers
are greatly needed today.
Will YOU be willing to
say that you will go and
help a missionary carry
the weight? W
