Spotlight on Asia
Southeast Asia is a populous region of the world that presents great potential for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Eastern religions and Islam have made great inroads into the lives of the Asian people. Great need exists for fervent believers to proclaim the love of Jesus Christ. Currently, more than 80 missionaries are serving with BIMI in 11 nations of this region of the world. Literally hundreds more are needed! Two nations of Southeast Asia figure prominently into The 100 Nations Project. We are praying for new missionaries to help open new doors of ministry in Singapore and Thailand.
SINGAPORE
Singapore is an island nation situated off the coast of Malaysia. It is a model of economic vitality and environmental cleanliness. A stable government has made economic growth possible, though some express concern over the power to limit dissent.
Over 40% of the 4.4 million inhabitants are Buddhist, with Christianity, Islam, and Atheism each claiming about 500,000 adherents. Although several languages are spoken, English is the language of education. The need is great and the potential is unlimited for missionaries to bring the riches of Jesus Christ to the prosperous nation of Singapore.
Opportunity of a lifetime!
Are you searching for your place in the Great Commission? Pray about becoming a member of Team Singapore! We are looking for a team of five to eight dedicated believers to establish an international ministry in Singapore. Team Singapore will work to plant a strong local congregation and a training institute to mobilize workers for Singapore and the surrounding nations. Married couples and/or single men and women are invited to investigate the possibilites of Team Singapore. Join us on the Team Singapore Survey Trip in the summer of 2007!
Want to know more about the opportunities available to you in Singapore? If so, this eight-day trip is specifically designed just for you! You will visit this exotic city-state in Southeast Asia with the team coordinator. You will experience the people and culture of Singapore firsthand, and discover the possibilities waiting for you on Team Singapore. Funds are available to subsidize the cost of the trip for qualified applicants.
THAILAND
This populous nation of more than 65 million in Southeast Asia is a corrupt country in need of the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. Bribery, corruption, and immorality are prevalent in virtually every strata of society in Thailand. Although Christianity has made some recent impact on this predominately Buddhist country, less than 2% of the population consider themselves Christian.
Bangkok, the capital, is a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, rife with crime, sex, alcohol, and drugs. Statistics indicate there may be as little as 40,000 Christians in this city of 10 million. The need is great for missionaries to plant churches in Thailand. We are praying for a team of independent Baptists who will cross this border and impact this country for the glory of God.
Opportunities for ministry in Thailand:
• Dozens of pioneer church planters are needed to start new churches in cities and villages.
• Opportunities exist for team ministry in the capital city of Bagkok.
To learn more about any of these opportunities, please call 23-344-5050.
