Nestled between Russia and China, Mongolia is an old nation, trying to find its place in the modern world. This country of 2.8 million is an agricultural society with nearly 40% nomadic people. Once a part of the powerful empire of Genghis Khan, it now struggles with nearly one third of its citizens living in abject poverty. Over 50% of the population is considered Shamanist or Buddhist, over 40% claim no religion whatsoever, and less than 1% is called Christian. Although Christians do experience persecution from their families, many are turning to Christ. Once one of the most closed countries on earth, it is now open to the gospel and waiting for independent Baptist missionaries.
Every summer through 2010, survey trips are being planned to different nations of the 100 Nations Project. If you are interested in visiting Mongolia contact Dave Carney
