by Dr. James Ray - Executive Editor
Some time ago I researched a missionary that lived and worked in India between 1880 and 1890. This missionary served with the London Missionary Society. When I contacted the London Missionary Society, I was amazed that they had records and letters relating to that missionary. They were able to tell me when he served, where he served and gave me other interesting information. What records!
That contact inspired us to develop a historical achieves for BIMI. Mary received all of the Congo Gospel Mission records (forerunner of BIMI) from Dr. J. R. Faulkner. These records were invaluable. These were put into chronological order and bound for the archives.
For almost a half century, Baptist International Missions has been and is wholeheartedly engaged in world missionary enterprise. It was felt that future generations would benefit from the stories of our devoted missionaries. Some of the greatest lives of recent history have been the lives of those servants who served around the world with BIMI.
Mary has spent untold hundreds of hours compiling and researching amazing stories and achievements, which, if not recorded might have been lost to history. This research includes hundreds of names of those who serve and have served as missionaries with BIMI.
The history of BIMI has now been beautifully printed and consists of 311 pages with hundreds of photographs. This work is a tribute to some of God’s greatest servants and a tribute to the work of local churches who have challenged and sent these servants to the ends of the earth. The response from Christian colleges and individuals has been encouraging.
