One hundred years ago, nearly a quarter of the world’s people were controlled in some way by the British Empire. As the UK has divested itself of its overseas colonies, so it has developed its international role within organizations such as the United Nations and NATO.
The past produced some great missionaries and Gospel preachers. God used the UK to evangelize the world much in the same way that the United States in this generation is making strong strides to advance the Gospel throughout the world.
After the World Wars, England turned away from church attendance and interest in religious matters. Today only 10% claim to attend church on a regular basis. BIMI first entered England in May 1964 with an interest in church planting. The way has not been easy but today the desire to establish and strengthen independent Baptist churches remains this mission’s chief focus. Another interesting fact is that today in England BIMI personnel have a renewed desire to train men for the ministry who hold to the pre-tribulation, pre-millennial and grammatical-historical interpretation of the Scriptures. There are many communities in England where there is no Bible-believing independent Baptist Church. If you want to know more about the opportunity to serve in England, contact the European Director.
