A failed experiment with Marxism has left the island of Madagascar full of spiritual hunger and ripe for harvest. It is the fourth largest island in the world, situated off the coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Although half of the citizens profess Christianity, for the majority it is simply religious tradition without genuine conversion.
About 45% of the population practices various folk religions and is in real need of the Gospel. Although long-term visas are a challenge to come by, the country is wide open to the Gospel. Many remote villages are fertile fields for evangelism. Please pray that the Lord will open this country of 18 million to a team of independent Baptist missionaries.
