Zambia - Africa

The Republic of Zambia is located in the south central part of the continent of Africa. Once a colony of the United Kingdom known as Northern Rhodesia, Zambia is today a modern African nation that is rich in opportunity.

Zambia is a very large country with an area 10% larger than the state of Texas and is the 39th largest country in the world. The current population (2016) is almost 17 million people, of whom 60% are under the age of 17. The majority of people speak English, which is the national language, and 65% of the population are considered literate.

Zambia is an open and inviting field for missions because of the many opportunities for ministry. BIMI has been in Zambia since 1998 and has three missionary families serving there. Currently, BIMI missionaries are involved in Church Planting, Bible Institutes, Youth Ministries, Continuing Education for National Pastors, Orphanages, and Deaf Ministries. Opportunities for further ministry include a number of cities with a population of over 250,000 without an independent Baptist church and numerous rural areas without a Gospel witness. Because of the high rate of youth in the population, there are plentiful opportunities to work with orphans, vulnerable youth, and street children. There is also a large population of Muslim, Indian, and Chinese nationals. These groups of people are virtually unreached with the Gospel.

Will you please pray and ask how the Lord could use you and your family in Zambia? For now, the door for missions is open and inviting. The people of Zambia need someone like you who will love them and share with them the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. Will you volunteer to serve the Lord in the beautiful country of Zambia?
