Kevin & Roxanne Akana

Serving in Hawaii, Far East

Personal website

Kevin and Roxanne are missionaries to Hawaii. Kevin Akana was born and raised in Hawaii and grew up in Kahalu’u. He attended Castle High School and while he was there, he received the Lord as his Savior. He graduated in 1987 and around that time the Lord called him to preach. In 1988 he left Hawaii to go to Bible college in Oklahoma, and in 1992 he graduated from Oklahoma Baptist College. While at college Kevin met Roxanne Kelso of Omaha, Nebraska. Shortly after they graduated from college they were married. After being on deputation for 3 ½ years Kevin & Roxanne arrived in Hawaii and started the Windward Baptist Church. The first Sunday Services were held on October 30, 1995 and there were eight people in attendance including Kevin, Roxanne and their daughter Kelsie. Today the church averages over 100 in attendance and has many different ministries that focus on reaching the local people of Hawaii. One these ministries is called RAM (Rebuilders Addictions Ministry). Many struggle of the locals struggle with drugs, especially crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice.” This drug claimed the life of Kevin’s father, Thomas Akana, on March 8, 2004. The Lord used the death of Kevin’s father to burden Kevin to begin the ministry of RAM. There has been over 1000, people that has been through the program and many today have been saved, baptized and become a part of the ministry of Windward Baptist Church. God has definitely had his hand upon the ministry of this church and has brought many wonderful and faithful people to serve here. Kevin and Roxanne have a heart for discipling and church planting as they have been a part of other church plants throughout Hawaii. Currently Kevin has been teaching and training locals in Hawaii Baptist College in order to minister, plant churches and serve in the local churches in Hawaii. Kevin and Roxanne work with the local Hawaiian people and have seen many saved and many lives changed. For more information: download the app “My Church by Pushpay” – keyword: windward
