June and I have been in some wonderful missions conferences
in recent months. We've had the privilege of seeing good increase in
Faith Promise commitments, pastors encouraged with their missions
programs and some folks surrendering to go to the mission field.
It is a tremendous blessing to serve missionaries and to serve with
missionaries who desire to get the Gospel to places God has called
them and to serve churches with a heart for missions.
We also spent some time in the Dominican Republic (DR)
making two trips, taking pastors to teach modulars in church
institutes. In March, Pastor Dennis Leatherman of Mountain Lake
Independent Baptist Church taught Methods of Bible Study for
Josh Wesson and his institute. Pastor William Tyson of Woodlawn
Baptist Church of Bowie, Maryland, was with Steve Sidler and taught
on Marriage and the Family. Then in May, Pastor Jon Rediger of
Eastern Shore Baptist Church of Grasonville, Maryland, taught the
Book of Acts for Brother Wesson. Pastor Ron Titus of Cornerstone
Baptist Church of Owings, Maryland, taught for Steve Sidler on The
Church. These were exciting classes and the missionaries were very
encouraged by the response of their people to every session. They are
already planning for 2014 and the pastors who will be going to teach
classes at that time.
We were also involved in trying to get materials to the men who
are starting churches in the DR and those that are preparing to start
churches. We appreciate very much Woodlawn Baptist Church giving
the money to purchase ten laptops. We were able to change them
over to Spanish, to put some Bible programs on them, and then to
deliver them to men in the DR. We were also able to purchase seven
study Bibles to put in the hands of these men.
We have a full schedule of conferences for the fall and are very
excited about the opportunity to challenge churches to give and to go.
