S And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden
riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord,
which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel (Isaiah 45:3).
he had dark hair and a flaw-
less complexion that made
her look like a delicate china
doll. Her smile was pleasant
and warm, and her laughter was con-
tagious—our friendship was almost
instant. Although I was her pastor's
wife, I was only a few years older than
she, so we had a lot in common.
My husband, James, and I often took her to one
of the most exciting places in our small town. It
was that famous restaurant called A&W Root Beer
where they had curb service. We sat in the car and
over hamburgers and root beer, we laughed and
shared our life stories. We told her how we had met
in Bible college and how the Lord had led us from
the deep South to this quiet Illinois town. Her face
beamed as she described how exciting it was to be
a senior in high school. With a far-away look she
expressed her dreams for the future. And then with
twinkling eyes, she informed us that she had a pas-
sion for WHITE DRESSES.
