Russ and Bobbie Turner (Cayman Islands) share this exciting testimony: “In all my 60 years of sharing the Word of God, I never reached as many people as I did this Christmas. Mrs. Turner and I took advantage of the Cayman Airways direct flight to Panama to distribute God's Word, John/Romans booklets, on the city streets. As individuals scurried along with both hands full of ‘Christmas shopping bags,' I slipped a Gospel booklet between thumb and fingers, telling the real meaning of Christmas.” Jim and Kelly Shelton (Puerto Rico) report: God has been doing much in recent days. They saw several saved through three different VBS, and also a couple of middle aged men by the names of Armando and Alberto came to know the Lord. “We are already busy making plans for the ministry here for 2014. Please pray as we already are booked with several mission groups for the next year.” Chad and Cynthia Pape (On Deputation for Domincan Republic) “The past six weeks have been amazing. God has provided in so many ways. While in the Dominican Republic for a week, God provided us a house with every detail for which our family had prayed. The size, location, price, and even a mango tree in the back yard, that my son had been praying for specifically. God is so good. We not only were able to get a house but also we obtained our Dominican documents and a language teacher. We made some progress on finding a vehicle. Our plan is to leave for the field during the first week of May.” Nathan and Renee Owens share this encouraging report: “This past summer we took one of our mission teams to sing at the Antigua nursing home. Since the radio station began in 1975, many of the residents are longtime listeners of our station. During the team's visit, several of the residents were listening to our radio station. The team members were touched by these individuals and gave us monies to purchase and present each of the five wards with a new radio.” Swante and Linda Lindquist (Jamaica) are rejoicing that as of November they celebrated their 40th anniversary with BIMI. “On November 15, the Lord answered a 9 month prayer: A VAN! And what a van!!! The 2003 Toyota HiAce 10-seater has a turbo diesel engine in pristine condition with only 82,000 miles and dual A/C (much appreciated here in Jamaica). Now, the number of trips per Sunday has greatly decreased, saving time and expense, and our attendance for Sunday and Wednesday nights has increased!” Michael and Anna Doering (Dominican Republic) share this heart-touching story. “I received word not too long ago that a young man who lived next to our church had been killed in a motorcycle accident. Last February he had accepted Christ during a special service we were having while hosting a work team. We are grateful that Rafael is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord. Pray for his family, as he leaves behind a wife and a baby.” Shirleen Godfrey (Nassau, Bahamas) says, “Esther, who works in the children's ministry, and I have been visiting on Wednesdays in a brand new area. It is in a very rural area where wooden bins have been built and the people set up shop along the road selling fruits, vegetables and many other items. The people where we visit live way off the main road. Most of them do not have electricity, and a well has been dug to provide water. They cook in big black iron pots over open fires, and the food smells so good! Life is very hard for them. We witness one-on- one, give out tracts, and have candies for the children. We have had some come to know the Lord, but most of them will listen yet say they are not ready. It is so sad—not that they live in poverty—but that they face eternity in a lost condition. We now provide bus service to this area, and more are coming to church. Praise the Lord for this. Pray for these folk to get saved.” Islander – No 1, 2013 11
