we consider many close calls with
death became the order of the day.
In all of this, he remained a true
soldier. He battled his illness with
dignity and inner resolve, not
willing to just roll over and die.
Even on his bed of affliction, he
never lost sight of his vision for
Jamaica. His involvement in the
work of the Gospel here continued
with every opportunity he got.
Finally, let us consider...
4. Richey the Victor
One may say that on August 2,
2014, Dr. Young lost the battle
to his illness. I do not share that
opinion. For he on that evening,
minutes after 4 p.m., became a
victor. He won the battle over
illness. That was his victory day
both physically and spiritually.
This brother fought a good fight;
he ran an excellent race; he
finished the course well; he kept
the faith. He will be rewarded by
the Lord himself. Precious in the
sight of the Lord is the death of
His saints.... To be absent from the
body, and to be present with the
Lord. We salute and remember with
affection and pride our colleague and
friend Dr. Richey Lemar Young. And
on the authority of God's Word we
know that his soul is resting in peace
with his Maker. We are comforted by
the blessed hope that we will see him
again in the sweet by and by.
