Volume 16, Issue 1 Winter 2016 The Harvells Bethel Baptist Church, Rota, Spain Greetings from Bethel Baptist Church in Rota, Spain, home of the U.S. Navy 6th Fleet’s guided missile destroyer ships: USS Cook, USS Carney, USS Ross, and USS Porter.  There are many who have served in or been around our United States Armed Forces and are “no strangers” to Bethel Baptist Church.  For those who are not as familiar, allow me to take a moment and brief you on the godly heritage of Bethel Baptist Church.  Bethel Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist church on a mission to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the Rota community and also around the world.  It is our sincere desire to be a beacon of hope to a lost and dying world by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to be a pillar and ground of the truth for the saints of God desiring a deeper walk of faith. Dr. Jeff Alverson, Director/Editor Rev. Steve Nutt, Assistant Editor Dr. James Kennard, Military International Representative Bethel Baptist Church has been serving the Rota Military Community since 1973 when missionary E. A. Woodfield founded the church.  Missionaries such as Ron Parrott, Chris Parker, Roy Smith, and John Beck have served the Lord faithfully at Bethel Baptist Church down through the years.  There have been numerous souls saved through the preaching of the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ and many have gone on to become Christian servants called into full-time service.  From pastors to missionaries to Christian school teachers, God has changed and blessed many lives here at Bethel. The next chapter in the history of Bethel Baptist Church began on December 6, 2015,
