Throughout the Carib- bean, the Lord is working in the hearts of people. As I visit our missionaries and many national pastors, my heart is thrilled to hear remark- able testimonies of God’s saving grace. We are blessed to be a part of God’s plan. Re- cently, Joy and I were in Puerto Rico. While there, we rejoiced to see how God is working in Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida. Pas- tor Luis Cuadrado and his dear wife are being used of the Lord in a special way. On that trip we celebrated anniversary days at Maranatha Baptist Church in Ceiba and Calvary Baptist Church in St. Thomas. It is wonderful to see how God is using these churches to reach the people around them with the Gospel. A quick trip to the Dominican Republic with Shawn McGuire was highlighted with a last minute visit to Vietnam de la Mina. I heard the testimony of Pastor Fernando as he shared that in one week he lost half of his congregation because across the river the government had built 1,000 apartments and many of his people moved there. Now he is pastoring two churches in two locations. While we were with Missionary Erik Johnson, we were able to see the new building that the Lord provided to start a new church across town from Iglesia Bautista de la Verdad in the city of San Francisco. The Lord has raised up national leadership to expand the ministry in that city. Before leaving the Dominican Republic, we enjoyed an evening of fellowship with a number of independent, fundamental Baptist missionaries in the capital of Santo Domingo. Old acquaintances came and enjoyed sharing stories and eating some pizza. The children had a wonderful time playing basketball in the street. I cannot thank Joy Wesson and her children enough for the wonderful hospitality that they showed us that evening. We felt like we were one big family at a reunion. The Lord surely is good! My wife and I are blessed to be a part of such a wonderful ministry reaching souls in the Caribbean with the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Islander – November 2016
