Church Planting in
Las Vegas, Nevada
By Jorge Noriega — BIMI/Reseeding America Ministry
Editor’s Note: The Noriega family has planted two Hispanic
churches in Las Vegas with BIMI/Reseeding America. They are
working on their third church plant. Brother Noriega trains his
own men for the ministry and two of them now pastor the first two
churches that are self-supporting. He is currently working towards
turning over this third church, which he writes about in this article.
Looking back on this past year, our church, Iglesia Bautista La Fe (The Faith
Baptist Church), experienced some exciting growth. First, spiritually, we saw our
folks become more dedicated in their walk with Jesus Christ and more faithful in
their church attendance. We also observed them taking on new ministries and
volunteering to serve in our church. Next, we saw modest gains in new people
coming into the church.
For the very first time, our church conducted a Vacation Bible School (VBS),
and it was all planned by Miguel with the help of his wife, Sarah. They recruited
and assigned different members in the church to help teach classes, help with
crafts, and provide refreshments for the children and adults in attendance. They
also purchased and gave away prizes to the children for completing their lessons
and memorizing verses. The theme of VBS was based on the following Bible verse:
And that from a child thou hast known the holy
scriptures, which are able to make thee wise
unto salvation through faith which is in
Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15).
4 Reseeding America – Spring 2018
Towards the end of the year, we
have had a couple in training with
Sarah as she teaches the children’s
class so they can observe and learn
that ministry. We also have several
men in the church who have taught
the Thursday night midweek services,
given short devotionals, taken prayer
requests, and led the church in prayer.
At this point in time, our entire
ministry is being structured to train
and mentor leaders. When we have
people come to us for help or with
special needs or for counseling, we
bring in several of our men to take
part in such meetings. This is helping
our future leaders gain experience in
discernment and decision-making
skills. Recently, we had two of our
youth do an outstanding job
performing special music on their
violins for the Christmas service. I
did not even know they could play let
alone play that well! It has been a very
encouraging year of watching the
Lord work in and through the lives of
our people. To God be the Glory!
