These days, it seems the world is inundated
with bad news from every side. Every day the
headlines are filled with news about inflation,
war, supply shortages, and what the “next
pandemic” might bring. Those I have met and
interacted with from Generation Z are deeply
concerned about the future, and many do not
see much promise in it. They are looking for
hope, answers, and good news. We would do
well to speak to them of the glorious honor of
our Lord’s majesty and His wondrous works!
They are interested in spiritual matters and
need to hear that God loves them and has
not forgotten them. More than anything else,
Generation Z needs to hear the Gospel and see
it lived out in the lives of believers daily. This is a
generation that has grown skeptical before their
time, and they will be watching as we speak to
them of Jesus. God’s grace and eternal life by
faith in Jesus and His finished work on the
cross is the message that can counterbalance all
their fears and uncertainties about a world that
seems so dark to them right now.

In Romans 10:13, the Apostle Paul penned the
wonderful promise that Generation Z (and all
others) need: For whosoever shall call upon the
name of the Lord shall be saved.

Paul quickly followed up that promise with
four questions that every generation must
answer when we consider our responsibility to
reach the generations that come after:
How then shall they call on him in whom they
have not believed? and how shall they believe
in him of whom they have not heard? and how
shall they hear without a preacher? And how
shall they preach, except they be sent (Romans
10:14-15a)? 22

These are seemingly simple yet profound
questions. Each one is rhetorical in nature yet
demands an answer. Every believer should ask
himself: What are we doing to make sure every
generation hears the Gospel message? Am I the
one the Lord wants to use to preach (present
tense) the Gospel to those who have not heard?
Am I willing to be sent if the Lord calls me?
There is a whole generation that has been
seemingly forgotten and that desperately needs
us to answer these questions. How we respond
will impact untold generations to come.

Imagine the impact that reaching Generation
Z in Canada can have on world evangelization.

The potential influence this group could have
on generations to come both in Canada and
around the world is amazing. Take for example
the people groups of 50,000 or more from 16
