Terry & Kaye Jones
Central America Director

Serving with BIMI - Terry and Kaye Jones arrived on the field in 1984. After 22 years in a church planting ministry in Costa Rica, God directed Terry to a new ministry in the World Missions Center of Baptist International Missions, Inc. in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that of Central America Director.

Salvation - Terry was saved at the age of 14 in a revival service in Cottondale, Alabama. Kaye was saved at the age of 16 at a Bible Memorization Association camp in Toccoa Falls, Georgia.

Family - Terry met Kaye (Brantham) while studying at Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, Tennessee. They were married in 1976, and have two children and four grandchildren. Jason and Emily Jones have a daughter, Morgan Rose, and two sons, Micah David and Mason Lawrence. Miranda and Steven DeWitt have one daughter, Kaleigh Marie.

Education Terry: Graduate of Theology (Th.G.) degree from Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Theology degree from Tabernacle Baptist College in Greenville, South Carolina. Kaye: Graduate of Theology (Th.G.) degree from Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga.

Field Ministry - In April 1984 Terry and Kaye began a year of language study. During their first term they worked in a small mission church, a ministry of “La Iglesia Bautista Emanuel” founded by BIMI missionary Bro. Bill Murdock. After a short furlough in 1987 they felt a burden for the community of “Cuatro-Reinas” a new urbanization being built on the north side of San José and started “La Iglesia Bautista Betel,” the Bethel Baptist Church. Bethel Baptist is now an established, indigenous church with a national pastor. Through Bethel, the Jones also worked in outreach ministries in the province of Heredia and in the rural town of Lepanto on the Nicoya Peninsula.

Present Ministry - Bro. Terry’s principal responsibilities are threefold:

1. Field Missionaries - There is the care of the field missionary, helping them with administrative and other needs in the United States. This ministry includes spending time on the different mission fields, working with and encouraging the missionaries as they serve in the different countries of Central America. Terry also represents the missionaries as needed to the churches here in the States.

2. Stateside Local Churches - Terry is serving the local churches here in the States through mission conferences and mission trips to various fields of Central America. He has the oversight of the Central American missionaries for accountability to the churches that send them and support them.

3. New Missionary Candidates - Finally, it is to actively help those who feel that the Lord is directing them into missions, whether as a short term missionary or a career missionary. He will be working with candidates from Christian colleges and from local churches as they work to get to the field to which God has called them.

Serving those who serve the Lord in Central America - It is Terry and Kaye’s heartfelt desire to serve the Lord by being a servant to the missionaries serving the Lord in Central America, as well as serving local churches in the United States.
