Consie Charlton was born on May 26, 1942, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. After Consie’s mother died when Consie was nine years old, her Christian uncle and aunt took her siblings and her into their home. As part of their practice, Consie and her siblings always went to church with their uncle. It was there where she eventually accepted Christ as her Savior. After completing grade school and high school, Consie made the decision to attend Waterloo Commercial School, majoring in bookkeeping, typing, and short-hand. From there, she graduated with an Associate’s degree.
Consie, however, was not satisfied. She yearned for a Christian education from a Bible school. Shortly thereafter, she began attending Jamaica Bible College. It was there where she met her husband, Audley Charlton, who was studying for the ministry. Upon graduation, they were married and had their first child, Joy. They then left Jamaica for Audley to attend Bible college in the United States where Consie gave birth to their second daughter, Jennie, and to their third daughter, Janice.
Upon their application to Baptist International Missions, Inc., Audley and Consie were accepted, completed candidate school, and were sent from the United States to serve the Lord on the mission field back in Jamaica. Audley began a local church where he pastored for a year. During that time, Consie gave birth to their youngest daughter, Janell. Serving as a teacher of typing and dean of women, Consie was called to serve the Lord at Bluewater Bible College in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. She and her husband were also in the ministry in St. Thomas at Calvary Baptist Church where Audley served as pastor for forty years. In her calling and role as the pastor’s wife, Consie served in a variety of capacities. She became the director of the Ladies Fellowship. Additionally, she served on the Board of Trustees for Calvary Christian Academy for many years.
After Audley retired from being the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in 2018, they moved to Lynchburg, Virginia. Consie was married to her loving husband for sixty years before the Lord called him home. She is left with their four daughters and three grandchildren. Although Consie looks forward to the day she will be reunited with her husband in heaven, she continues to serve the Lord and is open to seeing how God might use her next.
