Karie accepted Christ as Savior when she was 17 years old. When she was 19, God called her to full-time ministry/missions on September 23, 2003 during a missions conference at her church, after which she attended Crown College of the Bible. While there, she was involved in various ministries, some of which caused her to meet many West Africans in Knoxville, TN. She gained a high interest in these people, their culture, and the need in their homeland. Eventually, after praying for and considering West Africa, God would lead her to that part of the world.

She now serves in Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) where she does translation work for the local Bible institute and seminary along with other ministries. In late 2024, she finished her first term there.
