Debbie Guimon

Serving in Uganda, Africa

After growing up in a Christian home and accepting Christ as a child, Debbie and her now late husband, Dr. Kyle Guimon, were content serving the Lord through their local church and ministering to students at the university where Dr. Guimon was a chemistry professor. God used different events to open their eyes and hearts to the needs around them and around the world, and once they both surrendered to go wherever God sent them, He clearly directed them to Uganda, East Africa where Debbie is continuing to serve the Lord.

Ministry:
God very clearly directed Debbie and her now late husband, Dr. Kyle Guimon, to Uganda in early 1999 and then led them to the town of Soroti. After a few years of the Guimons establishing churches and prayerfully making plans about how to best start caring for the many orphans in the area, God sent the first orphans in 2004 to launch the Soroti Orphan Assistance Project. For a few years, after her husband’s death, Debbie served as a SOAP missionary based in the US handling various aspects of the ministry remotely and making annual visits to Uganda. God led Debbie to return to Uganda in 2017 where she is still faithfully serving the Lord. Debbie is passionate about teaching phonics in the local language (Ateso) to Ugandans who have never learned to read. The joy she sees on their faces as they start to read God’s Word for themselves and eventually receive their own Bibles fuels her zeal to continue.
