Soroti Orphan Assistance Project (SOAP)

Serving in Uganda, Africa

--> God very clearly directed Debbie Guimon and her late husband Dr. Kyle Guimon to Uganda in early 1999 and then led them to the town of Soroti. Other missionaries came and joined them to work as a team, establishing churches and prayerfully making plans on how to best start caring for the many orphans in the area. But God began things differently than they had planned when the Guimons agreed to accept their first sibling group of orphans at the request of a government official in 2004.

For more than 20 years, the ministry of the Soroti Orphan Assistance Project (SOAP) has continued to have a far-reaching impact in Uganda even after God called Dr. Guimon home to heaven in early 2006. Debbie Guimon has continued serving with a team of SOAP missionaries who work alongside the Ugandan staff in caring for destitute double orphans from approximately age six until they are prepared for life on their own. These children are receiving both an excellent academic education and spiritual training to enable them to effectively reach their own people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Debbie has told the incredible, true, suspense-filled story of how God brought that first sibling group of children to SOAP in Tears of Terror, Tears of Joy. It is a high quality, 58-page coil bound flip book (11”x17”) with beautiful illustrations by a Ugandan artist. The story is divided into five parts so it can easily be used in a 5-day Bible Club, a Vacation Bible School, or a Missions Conference setting. It also works well in a one-time setting in its entirety. The purchase of a book includes a downloadable digital version designed for large screens.

Debbie’s goal for this book is that people will see how God is still working miraculously today and that His care and protection were not just hundreds of years ago in the lives of famous missionaries from history. In order to get this story into the hands, hearts, and lives of as many people as possible, it is being offered for only the cost of printing and shipping. Any extra funds above actual costs will all go directly to SOAP.
