CONNECT BRAZIL — CONNECT WITH THE DEAF is a wonderful opportunity to understand and assist with an often forgotten part of the mission field—the Deaf Community. The team will work in conjunction with missionaries and national pastors to evangelize and encourage the Deaf ministries of three Brazilian churches through canvassing, testimonies, and participating in services and a conference.
CONNECT BRAZIL will be hosted by BIMI Missionaries Carl & Cynthia Johnson, Stephen & Abigail Barrett, and Becca Pape as well as several national pastors. Brazil has several million people who suffer from hearing loss, and it is estimated that there are over 70 million deaf worldwide. Though many of the deaf in Brazil claim Christianity, their beliefs are centered in the institution of the Catholic church.
CONNECT BRAZIL Team members will have a choice to meet in Chattanooga on July 23 and fly with the group or to have their flight booked from the closest major airport directly to Brazil, meeting the group there. Upon making the $100 deposit, each participant will receive a handbook detailing pertinent information to help prepare for the trip. Additional money may be brought along for activities, gifts, or souvenirs.
Special Requirements: Ages 16–65 in good physical health—sign language skills are appreciated but not required. (Note: 16–17-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent.)
Needed Documentation: Valid Passport and Brazilian Visa
