CONNECT JAPAN will visit the major metropolises of Tokyo and Osaka and the town of Aomori as team members experience Japanese culture and visit local churches started by BIMI missionaries. The team will travel by Bullet Train and various other transportation, including local trains, buses, and taxis. Guided by David & Jenny Harris, 24-year veteran missionaries to Japan, team members will hear first-hand stories, have exciting experiences, and gain ministry insights. Each morning will include a time of learning Japanese words and phrases, cultural lessons, and a missionary challenge. The team will also participate in Japanese evangelism and tract distribution while helping church planters as they see the need for more laborers in various cities.
JAPAN is a wealthy island nation with more than 120 million citizens and 92% live in cities, the largest of which is Tokyo. The Greater Tokyo Area is the largest metropolitan area in the world with over 37 million inhabitants. The Japanese people are well educated and courteous but steeped in the religious and cultural traditions of the past. Only 1% claim any kind of Christianity.
CONNECT JAPAN team members will meet at the LAX (Los Angeles) airport and fly together to Tokyo. The following day they will experience Tokyo for a few days or make their way by Bullet Train to Osaka first, depending upon scheduling needs. Several major cities and rural countryside cities with populations of 200,000 to 300,000 people will be visited along the way. The team will survey the need for missionaries and churches in areas that have no access to the Gospel.
