Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a vibrant, high-density coastal megacity on the eastern shore of Manila Bay. The culture of this city and country is a rich blend of Eastern and Western culture. The people of the Philippines exude a warm hospitality and gentleness. They are defined by a cultural strength known as bayanihan (community unity). They know how to smile through adversity. Manila has a tropical climate characterized by high temperatures and high humidity. The dry season runs from November to April. The wet season is from May to October.

Religious faith is highly visible with churches of various persuasions. However, a personal relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ is most urgent and vital for this wonderful nation.

Preachers will have many opportunities to preach and teach. Team members will be able to give their testimonies in churches and public schools. They will have opportunities to teach Sunday School and hand out Gospel literature in various locations of ministry. Open doors of ministry may include police stations and military installations. If team members sing or play musical instruments, they may utilize their talents that way. Ladies will have a chance to minister in ladies’ fellowships.

The church ministries will be those of national pastors who have been saved and trained under the former ministry of Carl and Glenda Vonnoh. There will be other national churches where we will minister as well.

In general, our days will start with group devotions and prayer. Then Pastor Edgar Pojas will provide a daily schedule for the group. Each day we may be at four or five different venues of ministry. Regular meals will be dispersed throughout the day. The days usually start around 5:30 a.m. and we return to our lodging around 10 p.m. Consideration will be given concerning the need for team members to take a break and rest at their place of lodging. There will also be some time to sightsee and shop during our time in Manila.

A desired qualification is for the team members to know how to effectively share the plan of salvation.
